NETWORK Kicks Off End of Year Giving Campaign
The NETWORK has launched its "Give Today For Their Tomorrow" Giving campaign by planning several educational events to be held over the final three months of the year.
These events are to draw in and educate corporate supporters, NETWORK members, current and former board members and the public about the issues surrounding the disadvantaged in our community and NETWORK plans to address these needs in 2008.
The first of these events was the Annual Crime Watch Coordinators Meeting on October 9, at the Richardson Civic Center, where NETWORK Development Director, Bobbi Klein, spoke to the assembly about how they can assist their neighbors in need. She also made an appeal to address the current food shortage in the Food Pantry. On October 19th, the attendees of the District Rotary International Conference will be volunteering at the NETWORK in various capacities. The Crop Walk on Sunday, October 21, which starts and ends at the Arapaho United Methodist Church, will generate funds to fight hunger. 25% of funds raised will come back to our community through a donation from Church World Service to NETWORK. The funds raised by the Global Knowledge Chili Cookoff, on October 26, will be donated to the NETWORK Food Pantry. Alice Mae Britt, NETWORK Executive Director, will serve as judge.
November events start with the Holiday Gift Project which runs November 1 through December 14th. More than 1,500 disadvantaged children will receive presents through the generosity of Richardson residents. Financial donations, toys and gifts will be gratefully accepted to drive this effort at the NETWORK Santa Corner. On November 9th, Leadership Richardson will visit to learn more about NETWORK's service to the community. "Corporate Visitation Week" is planned for the 12 through the 16th of November. Members of the corporate community will have lunch and learn about the problems which are addressed by NETWORK services. A gathering of member organizations, called "NETWORK University", will be held at the facility on November 17th, to acquaint members with new services and plans for the future. A new group of NETWORK Board Alumni is being formed and will meet for the first time on November 29th, to learn about changes and plans for the future.
